Hi, do you have an updated review for this product? I read from your recent “Top 6 Sunscreens for Spring/Summer 2013” that you were trying out the press sample. I’m looking for a product with color/coverage to go on top of my regular sunscreen. Can you describe this product’s level of coverage and also whether this will layer well with sunscreen below and loose powder on top? Many thanks!
Yes, thanks for reminding me. The coverage is decent — slightly more than typical Japanese BB creams (they tend to be pretty light). You’re still gonna need a something else to hide acne marks.
The BB cream is something that you’ll need to experiment in order to make it work as I find that it settles into pores (and mine aren’t normally visible) after a few hours when layered over certain products. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t…. and I haven’t been able come up with anything definite, which is why I haven’t put up a review on it yet.
Thanks very much for the quick reply. I’m leaving for a three week long, sun drenched vacation soon, so I am desperate to find a color product (be it BB cream, tinted sunscreen or what not) that has excellent UVA protection…and I need one that I can readily purchase online too. I am not too picky. I basically just want one with PA++++, and with decent (at least medium) coverage. Do you have any suggestions?
If there is no such product out there, do you have any color product that is PA+++ that you find has exceptional UVA protection?
Many many thanks again!
It would be rather difficult to apply the full amount to get the UV protection indicated if it has anything more than a sheer-light coverage. Who can apply anything foundation-esque generously without looking cakey and unnatural?
I personally prefer a regular (colourless) sunscreen + BB cream/powder (I haven’t used regular foundations in years), then a powder or aerosol sunscreen for touch-ups. That might not be a viable or practical option for you though.
For colour product with PA++++, the one I still continue to turn to is Shiseido Anessa Face Sunscreen BB — it’s a tinted sunscreen rather than a BB cream. Do read my review for it if you haven’t already https://www.ratzillacosme.com/2012/review-anessa-face-sunscreen-bb/
I completely agree!! That is precisely what I want to do. Use a colorless sunscreen as a base and then a BB/tinted cream on top for color and coverage. Unfortunately, I can’t get the Parasola Essence UV spray that you recommended (actually, I can, but SaSa only allows expedited shipping for this product and I refuse to pay $15 shipping for a $10 item). I have been using the Physicians Formula Airbrushing pressed powder for touch ups. They don’t have a PA rating, but it has 10% zinc and 15% titanium dioxide, so I figure it couldn’t be less than a PA++…I hope.
Thanks for your recommendation for the Shiseido Anessa Face Sunscreen BB cream. I will look into that. I personally tried and very much dislike the other Anessa colorless sunscreens, so I have been steering away from them. But perhaps this will be different.
Does this BB cream oxidizes? I think I’m in between shades. I like that lighter BB cream always tend to make my skin looks brighter and less swallow, but am concern that Shiseido O00 is too light for me. Because I used B20 previously, and that’s too light, even though I know the B is supposed to be beige toned.
Or maybe I should just go with Fasio for better color selection and also possibly better UVA? Since it has Tinsorb M? (not sure here…)
Anyways, thanks very much again for all your help!!
The Shiseido is a tinted sunscreen, not a BB cream — its cosmetic effect is minimal. It’s pretty colour-forgiving as its coverage is sheer-light. It should be fine as long as you’re close within the range. Oxidization more has to do with your skin’s pH than the product itself. I’ve never had a foundation or BB cream oxidizing on my skin.
Fasio is a makeup with high UV protection, not a proper sunscreen. I personally wouldn’t use it in lieu of sunscreen if you’re going to get lots of sun. It’s not something that can be applied generously or reapplied during the day.
Thanks so much for all your help!!! I’ve decided to give the Fasio a try, hopefully it will work out.
Could you give perhaps roughly the mac shade that shade 1 would be? I use shade one in other Japanese BB creams with 2 colour choices but am unsure if I would use shade 1 or 2 here.
I’m not that familiar with MAC foundation shades. Perhaps NC20… but that’s just a guess. It’s more or less the same as the lighest shade of other Japanese BB creams.
Thank you (:
Hoping to see this available on Rakuten soon.. I am excited to try it.
