What I’ve Been Doing

It has been a month since I last posted something on my blog, and so I thought I’d give you a little run-down of what I’ve been up to this week or so. Apart from work and taking care of my cousin’s 1-year-old, which seems to take up most of my time.

What I’ve Been Wearing: The Illuminating Supple Blemish Cream by Klairs. A fresh BB cream with a light yellow-based tint, this evens out skintone and feels really moisturising with no greasy or chalky residue. I’ve been wearing it a lot on casual days. It has just the right amount of coverage so that minor discolourations and blemishes are evened out, and a natural glowy finish that looks as though you’ve just got really, really good skin. A 40ml tube is US$22.49. If you’re much fairer or darker than MAC 20-25 or you have oily skin, it’s probably a no-go.

What I’ve Been Making: After working on the Catbus (ネコバス) from My Neighbour Totoro (となりのトトロ) for about 6 evenings, it’s finally done. Woooo! I actually became incredibly bored of making it half way through, if truth be known, because of all the legs. There’re so many of them! But I’m glad I soldiered on since I really like how it turned out!

What I’ve Been Reading: The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life by Mark Manson. I bought the book a few years ago, but I just got around to reading it recently. I think it’s absolutely brilliant. The premise is taking responsiblity for your own life — choosing what to care about (in other words, giving a “f*ck” about the right things).

What I’ve Been Finishing: I used up Makeup Artist’s Choice Mandelic Acid Toner to the very last dregs. It’s one of my favourite exfoliating products and I wish that it’s more accessible for those that don’t live in the US (like me)! I wipe it on at night a few times a week to help keep skin clear as sort of a pre-period skin fix. It’s US$16.50 and it’s only available through its website. International shipping is at a flat rate, so you’d have to order several things to make the fee worthwhile.

What I’ve Been Buying: I always buy my phone outright since it works out to be significantly cheaper than being on a monthly contract for 2+ years. I’ve been an Apple user since I was a kid, so I got another iPhone without a moment of hesitation. The time round, the Product Red version of the XR model with 256GB. I’m so pleased with it and its battery life is superb. Although one would expect that it would be good, considering it costs around the same as a small second-hand car!
