SUNCUT Tone Up UV Essence is a Japanese colour-correcting sunscreen.
The watery fresh sunscreen is enhanced with lavender pigments and reflective pink pearl particles to counteract dullness and brighten the complexion, and the colour will not transfer or rub off onto clothing. A blend of raspberry extract, lemon extract, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin C helps boost skin’s clarity and hydration. Suncut’s signature “AllerGuard” prevents pollen, dust, and other airborne environmental stressors from clinging to the skin.
Ideally suited for casual everyday wear, the sunscreen essence protects the skin from exposure to the summer sun while instantly boosting its tone and clarity. Skin looks brighter and more luminous, and feels fresh and comfortable.

Are these new formulations of Kosé SUNCUT sunscreens actually popular in Japan? I remember you commenting that they have a reputation for being very crappy.
I tried a few different SUNCUT sunscreens a couple years ago and I hated almost every single one of them. I’m curious to know if these newer releases are an improvement. Have you tried any of them?
This “Tone Up” sunscreen is listed as a best-seller on Amazon Japan, but I’m not sure whether I believe it.
No, I feel Suncut’s reputation in Japan is pretty well-cemented and I personally don’t see that changing anytime soon. Not without a total rebranding effort. The brand very heavily relies on eye-catching cartoon-themed limited edition packaging designs to drive sales — like baboons enticing the opposite sex with their swollen red arses. They’re myriad of these cartoon designs and they never seem to go away. I mainly see young teenage girls and tourists buying them.
Suncut have been trying hard to push Tone Up UV Essence since launch. They gave away hundreds of tubes on @cosme and LIPS last year when it first launched. Even now, they always seem to be giving it away on social media. It’s their most “successful” launch in Japan to date but that’s not saying much. I don’t think it’s all that different from their other stuff.
