Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence is a water-light Japanese sunscreen for daily use.
The newly improved sunscreen essence features Biore’s new “Micro Defense” formula that uses ±0.2 μm sized “micro UV-cut Capsule” and Biore’s new proprietary “Ultra-Light Outer Skin” technology, creating a thin and even UV-blocking film that adheres uniformly like a second layer of skin down the micro crevices. It gives the skin more uniform daily protection against UV damage while maintaining the same water-light texture and invisible finish as before. Moisture-rich water capsules, hyaluronic acid, royal jelly, and butylene glycol keep skin moisturised.
It provides long-lasting, undetectable protection against casual UV exposure without leaving a sticky or white residue. Skin feels fresh, light, and smooth no matter how often it is reapplied. Ideally suited for everyday wear.

Will we have to wait until spring 2023 to see a replacement product, if any?
Has this not been reformulated yet? I thought Bioré sunscreens normally reformulate every 2 years

In the Kai press release for this and the gel version they explain about their “Micro Defense Formula.” I am having difficulty understanding whether they mean that the sunscreen active itself is encapsulated, or another substance that helps the sunscreen active stay in place.
If you know, can you tell us whether it’s the sunscreen active (i.e. Octonoxate) or another substance?
Kao’s “Micro Defense” is developed for their water-based sunscreens and it claims to ensure an even layer of protective film is formed on the skin’s surface. It’s nanoencapsulation of an oil-soluble UV filter.

So I find this one not to be THAT easy to wash off, at least from my skin. In fact, I double cleanse using my face wash to feel completly clean since I still feel a residual silicone feel left behind after the first take. Do you think it would be appropriate for the gym where I’m indoors not receiving direct sun light? I’m not much of a sweaty person by the way.
Your call, really! This will irritate eyes if it migrates.
I also find it hard to remove with soap in one step. A double cleanse is needed in my case
Hi is the 0.2 mm sized mean 0.2 milimetres or 0.2 micrometers? Also I noticed in the Biore Kids Milk sunscreen it mentions it features “microencapsulation” technology – is this different from the new “Micro Defense”? Thank you
