Quasi-Drug (医薬部外品) ANESSA Whitening UV Sunscreen Gel AA is a Japanese sunscreen gel that targets discolourations.
The sunscreen gel is specially formulated to address freckles and dark spots and it has been renewed to better protect skin against dryness than the previous formula. It features Shiseido-developed m-Tranexamic acid and anti-inflammatory Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate to reduce excess melanin production and prevent skin roughness. Shiseido’s patented “core-corona emulsification” technology gives the gel a dewy refreshing texture and high water resistance without a sticky or powdery feel.
Ideally suited for everyday use, it protects the skin from dark spots and freckles caused by daily UV exposure. 50% skincare ingredients including Tormentil flower, super hyaluronic acid, marine collagen, green tea, and edelweiss protect the skin from dryness. Skin feels comfortable, moisturised, and fresh.

Do you know if this product has been discontinued? I can’t seem to find it available… I’m based in the UK but Stylevana, Yesstyle and Amazon etc. don’t have in stock.
You can still buy it in Japan but this product has been phased out already. It will be gone within the year.
Have you tried this one? I’m interested but I saw some reviews saying it was oily and smells like Lemon Pledge

Do the Japanese pa++++ products give as long last protection as zinc oxide or does it disintegrate like avobenzone!
PA rating simply represents how much UVA protection a product offers (like how SPF is for UVB). It has nothing do with photostability.
Contrary to popular myth, the zinc oxide/titanium dioxide used in most sunscreens still breaks down under UV rays. There’s no data supports that physical (inorganic) sunscreens work all day.
