It is the 5th annual Japanese sunscreens ranking here on RatzillaCosme. I’ve done one every year since 2011, but this year I’ve managed to get my act together, and wrote it a month earlier than last year! I have to say that I felt quite pleased with myself.
This year I’ve chosen a variety of formulas to keep the run-down fresh and interesting. Details of each of the products (including ingredients and prices) are linked below. I hope that this is helpful for people who feel a little lost when confronted with myriad of different new Japanese sunscreens. Many sunscreens that I liked but not featured in this list have been reviewed in-depth here on RatzillaCosme, so do have a little explore in the site as well.
Here’s the run-down of my top five newly released SPF50+ PA++++ sunscreens of 2015 (in no particular order). If you missed last year’s top picks, you can check it out here.
1) SUNKILLER Perfect Strong Moisture
A nice sunscreen milk for everyday wear that can withstand a little bit of sweating and splashing. True to its claims, this feels more than a lightweight moisturiser fluid that leaves the skin soft and smooth than a proper waterproof sunscreen.
2) Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Gel
I wrote about this gem in my Best Pick review in March, so this will come as absolutely no surprise to most of you. It’s one of my favourite sunscreens this year and it’s perfect for everyday wear!
3) Shigaisen Yohou UV Cream 4+
Perhaps a little cheating as this was released last year, but it is newly repackaged. This cream doesn’t have the most beautiful texture or finish, but it’s one of the very few sunscreens suitable for both everyday wear and the outdoors that is free of alcohol, fragrance, and chemical filters! If you’ve dry, sensitive skin, then this would do quite nicely!
4) ALLIE Extra UV Gel (Mineral Moist NEO)
I’ve always really liked Allie sunscreens and this newly reformulated gel is no exception! It feels just as moisturising and lightweight, but this revamped version is now super outdoor-friendly.
5) PRIVACY UV Face Mist SPF50+
If you enjoy using hydrating face mist during the day, then you’ll like this handy non-aerosol mist as it kills two birds with one stone. It freshens and hydrates the skin while touching up your sun protection without disturbing makeup (as long as your don’t over spray!).
