A surprise entry into my ‘Best Pick’ category, the SENKA Perfect Whip Silky Moisture Fresh from Shiseido. It almost passed me by because I accidentally shoved it into my box of cleansing foams many months ago. As you can hopefully see from my skilled photography (ha!) below, the moisturiser is rather different to anything else you might have come across, texture-wise. Housed in a self-foaming, pump-action bottle, this is moisturiser as its most lightweight. One pump and the clear liquid is transformed into a fluffy foam that looks virtually identical to self-foaming washes.
Do you need a moisturiser that doesn’t add excess oil, feels incredibly light, and works well on combination or oily skin? Perhaps your skin is relatively normal but you need something altogether a lot more summer-friendly? If so, I think Senka’s moisturiser foam is well worth checking out. This is so, so lightweight that it doesn’t feel like you’re adding an extra layer to your skincare, and it can go under or over pretty much anything. Just don’t overapply — one pump is all you need — or it can start to feel sticky, especially if it’s humid. It absorbs immediately to help the skin stay hydrated, with none of that traditional cushion-y moisturiser feel. Skin feels perfectly quenched, freshened, and smooth. Brilliant in the summer, even more brilliant if you keep it in the fridge!
SENKA Perfect Whip Silky Moisture Fresh is ultra-affordable — ¥948 for 150ml, but it’s currently just ¥702 at Amazon Japan (the 130ml refill pouch is ¥612 here); international shipping is available (via AmazonGlobal). Alternatively, YesStyle has the bottle for US$16.39 here and the refill for US$14.45 here.
