My “powder of the moment” is brilliant for the “my-skin-but-better” look and it’s cheap as chips. CEZANNE UV Clear Face Powder works as a kind of foundation or BB/CC cream finisher that gives an undetectable blurred “veil” effect.
As a face powder, it takes away greasy shine and leaves the very faintest “blur” on my skin’s surface without dulling the skin or making it look dry. Because it’s so lightweight, it doesn’t disturb any makeup underneath. What you get is a very sheer layer of subtle blur to the face. If you tend to be heavy-handed or have darker than a medium skin tone, you’d want to tread a little carefully with the application. The powder is pretty forgiving but it will build up to some colour eventually.
Shade P1 Lavender also works as a complexion enhancer, adding the tiniest degree of bright translucency. A quick, gentle sweep over my T-zone and a touch to the under-eye area and the chin. It gives a very nice effect. Since shade 02 Natural is a slighter darker than my natural skin tone, it acts as an incredibly subtle contour powder — although contour isn’t the right word. Foundation and BB make skin one flat colour. I lightly sweep it around the edges to add dimension back.
The included applicator is pretty cheap and flimsy. I prefer to apply the UV Clear Face Powder using a small brush or a fluffy powder puff. It has this amazing effect on makeup that seems to make everything look a little fresher. I find very little wrong with the formula — it’s weightless, shine-blotting, imperfection-blurring, and pore-minimising. Those who are ingredient-conscious will be happy to know that the powder is full of powerhouse ingredients (like hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, and ceramides just to name a few)! It’s also free from fragrance, alcohol, and chemical (organic) UV filters, if that’s something that you look out for. Perfect, really.
If you find the packaging a bit lacking on the design front, you’ll be very happy to know that the powder is refillable. The refill pan fits perfectly into Paul & Joe’s and Anna Sui’s refillable powder cases! I have the shade I use most (01 Light) in an old Paul & Joe Pressed Face Powder Case.
