Best Pick: CEZANNE Skin Conditioner High Moist

Ultra-Affordable Hydrating Japanese Toner That Works

My one-sentence tweet on CEZANNE Skin Conditioner High Moist a couple of weeks ago seemed to have sparked a mini frenzy on the r/AsianBeauty Subreddit, so here it is with its own full-page review. Because it deserves one, absolutely.

I have been testing it and have found it to be quite unexpectedly brilliant. Obviously, I was hoping that it would be good, but really, how much can you expect from a watery lotion (toner) that costs just ¥650 for a half a litre? Especially since I find the regular version of Cezanne’s Skin Conditioner a waste of time — wishy-washy formula that looks like a dumping ground for leftover herbal extracts (31 altogether!). It doesn’t do anything for me. This one, though, has been made for dry, dehydrated skin. It’s beautifully put together and is packed full of ingredients to help protect and hydrate the skin.

CEZANNE Skin Conditioner High Moist uses 3 types of ceramides, 3 sizes of hyaluronic acid, collagen, 7 essential amino acids, and Job’s tears extract rather than just comprising of a boatload of herbal extracts. Those who want to avoid animal by-products would be glad to know that all ingredients are completely plant-derived! It also has a slightly acidic formula that’s free from alcohol, fragrance, and oil, making it suitable for any skin type.

You can pat it in with your palms but my preferred method of applying this type of large format, half litre-sized watery lotion is using cotton wool pads. Just pour a bit onto a cotton wool pad and gently swipe it on after cleansing to freshen, soothe, and hydrate skin. On my normal, slightly winter-dry skin, it absorbs instantly, giving a fresh feeling but without the tightness. My skin feels moisturised and comfortable — not sticky or coated. If you have oily skin, it might just give all the moisture your skin needs!

A giant 500ml bottle is just ¥702 HERE from Amazon Japan — worldwide shipping is available via AmazonGlobal. (You need to sign up for an Amazon Japan account, if you don’t have. Only Amazon Japan gift cards are accepted.) What an absolute steal! It’s also available on Amazon US for US$16.57+ or eBay US$19.99+ HERE.

Thank you for recommending this lotion, I like it a lot. Have you tried Cezanne moisture rich essence eye cream? I’ve been using it for 2 weeks and the fine lines under my eyes are almost gone. It’s also not sticky and for only 900 yen I want to keep using it, but the ingredient list says it contains パルミチン酸レチノール. From what I read retinyl palmitate is not retinol and potentially hazardous. For example this article: https://www.truthinaging.com/ingredients/retinyl-palmitate. What are your thoughts on this?

What do you think of ALOVIVI Urea Hyaluronate For Skin Moisture Lotion? It’s also a toner like this one, 500 ml too, and I’m interested in it because it has urea in it. Is it possible to find out the percentage of urea in this product?

You mention that using this in conjunction with Hada Labo lotion would be redundant. How about with Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium lotion? Also redundant?

So, I bought this (& am loving it, thanks!) as a more affordable alternative to the Holy Snails Snowbang Essence, which is another light ceramide essence, and even though that product contains parabens, they still recommend keeping it refrigerated to keep the ceramides fresh. So my question is: should the Cezanne skin conditioner be kept refrigerated, too, or do you think the preservative system is enough to keep the ceramides fresh on its own?

I have a question (well two) in regards to this product. 1. Does this help with “brightening” the skin like my SK-II essence (if it doesn’t is it alright to use the essence afterwards?) 2. Can I use this on the eye area or is that a no-no?

Thanks, Ratzilla! I just ordered one) and now I have a question: for some years I’ve been using Hadalabo hyaluronic lotion at least once a day. Do you think I could replace Hadalabo with this one for some months? Or I better order now Hadalabo lotion too.. (I have combination dry/normal/oily skin type)

I didn’t mean to layer them. I meant one in the morning, second in the evening for example. In case if Cezanne is not moisturising enough in comparison with Hadalabo?.. How would you compare them? Them and Sana Namerakahonpo emulsion ) excuse me for so many questions!

Wonderful to hear it is vegetarian friendly :). Are there any other Japanese lotions without any animal by-products?

In fact I would be really thrilled if you would consider having a vegetarian friendly section like the alcohol free section!

Thank you so much <3 I was looking for a Japanese hydrating toner that is animal-ingredient and sake-free (besides Hadalabo which I think gave me CCs)!
