January and February are a bit depressing, is it not? I often feel like being repeatedly thawed and refrozen when it gets into the tail end of winter. Skin is flaky, dry, and lifeless — just in time of Valentine’s Day.
Highlighters and luminizers are popular to bring skin back to life but they are really not my cup of tea. I want my skin to look impossibly healthy but completely natural — not some shimmer, no matter how fine and subtle, slapped on the surface. I’ve been experimenting with things to counteract my winter-stressed skin and my most-used enhancer at the moment is Etude House’s Nymph Aura Volumer in #3 Transparent.
It’s a light pink colour when it comes out of the bottle, but it disappears into the skin completely. When I tested on the back of my hand, I thought it was useless! Its texture reminded me of a thick, non-sticky lipgloss, and I couldn’t see any difference whatsoever in my skin after I rubbed it in. A few weeks later, I tested it on my face and was amazed. It made my skin look fresh and radiant — dry, winter skin, begone! I apply the Nymph Aura Volumer by mixing it into my BB cream in about a 1:3 ratio then I apply it exactly as I normally would. Haphazardly with my hands. I mix a little more of the enhancer and pat it on areas that need a little extra glow. It’s foolproof, it’s quick and it has instant results.
The formula is smooth and quite nourishing; there’s castor seed oil, argan oil, avocado oil, and even a touch a hyaluronic acid (so not suitable for those with acne-prone or oily skin). It’s an extra boost to get the skin glowing.
