Review Hada-Labo Gokujyun Hyaluronic Acid Milk

Let’s cut to the chase, I’m not a fan of this moisturiser at all. Hada-Labo Gokujyun Hyaluronic Acid Milk (2013 formula) has all the potentials to be great option for people who would like a moisturiser that will deeply hydrate and soothe skin in a simple way. Like the popular Hada-Labo Gokujyun Hyaluronic Acid Lotion (read my best pick review of it here), it is alcohol-free, fragrance-free, and formulated for dry, dehydrated skin in mind.

It’s true that it is great at keeping my combination-dry skin really moisturised and hydrated, but my biggest qualm is its sticky residue — you can feel it on the surface even after an hour or so. The overwhelming sticky finish simply makes the moisturiser unpleasant to use. It looks and feels a bit like white craft glue. A layer of mattifying sunscreen or makeup primer on top does take the tackiness away, but I have no desire to struggle along or make it work when there are so many high-performance no-frills moisturisers available.

With that being said, the moisturiser milk is finished to the last drop. My mum has the (dis)pleasure of getting my skin care rejects and this happens to be one of them. According to her, it’s quite nice as she can feel it on her skin all day, so she knows that it’s still working — that happens to be what she said about greasy sunscreens as well! Every cloud has a silver lining.
