Best Pick: SIZUKU Face Masks

japanese sheet mask Sizuku

SIZUKU is a new Japanese sheet mask line by the same company behind the famed Bihada Ichizoku face masks. The lineup contains 8 masks with each featuring a plant extract said to be traditional to Japan that has a specific benefit to the skin — and, yes — it is 100 yen each! Very inexpensive sheet masks that you see in Japan are typically made in Taiwan or Korea but these are made in Japan using 100% domestically produced ingredients!

How does SIZUKU Face Masks stand up to other (pricier) Japanese drugstore varieties? It did quite well! If I had been ‘blind testing’ this — I’m not sure how I would have got the packaging open and place the sheet on my face, but still — I would have thought it a far more expensive product than it actually is. I’ve been experimenting with a few drugstore sheet masks recently, and I feel no real difference in immediate result with this one.

The sheet itself is a tad thin and rather on the large side but it contains a very generous amount of liquid serum, quite frankly, way too much for sheet to absorb as it drips. For only 100 JPY a sheet, that’s perfectly fine by me! You can even save the excess serum for a second (or even third) treatment if you’re really feeling the pinch.

They’re pretty standard-issue and the sheet conforms to the face well with very minimal gaping, and you leave it on 5–10 minutes before removing the sheet and massage the remaining serum into the skin. There’re 8 levels of hydration, with Aloe being the most hydrating and Yuzu being the lightest, along with 8 slightly different benefits.

I’ve used all 8 and there’s no noticeable difference between them other than the scent. My skin felt moisturized, soft, and supple after use — noticeable improvement with drier areas and generally more radiant. Very good work for a sheet that costs 100 yen!

I especially like that SIZUKU Face Masks have simple, straightforward formulation and that the packaging is quite attractive. They would make great stocking stuffers or party favours for the girls!
