I am going to cut straight to the chase — this is not a BB cream. ANESSA Face Sunscreen BB is labelled (on the back of the tube in Japanese) and marketed as a sunscreen — a tinted one with light diffusing properties (hence the ‘BB’ in the name).
Keeping this mind, I think this is a very option for those with fairly good skin that’s a slightly dry. This is an Anessa sunscreen so it’s no surprise that the formula is quite water and sweat resistant, but it doesn’t feel as tenacious and heavy-duty as their milky sunscreens. It manages to feel light and comfortable enough (for a waterproof sunscreen) and moisturizing without being at all greasy or drying, and the effects are long-lasting.
Its coverage is quite sheer but it’s a buildable formula — after all, sunscreen needs to be applied generously. I apply more where I need it and it evens my skin tone and makes everything looks smoother while giving skin a natural, luminous finish that lasts a full day. I received Light, the lighter of the 2 shades available, which is supposedly equivalent to Shiseido foundation shade O00 to O20.
I recommend you keep looking if you’re looking for an Asian BB cream with high UV protection that is waterproof. But Anessa Face Sunscreen BB gives a ‘your skin, but better’ effect that’s great for summer.
