Best Pick: NIVEA Sun Protect Plus UV Milky Essence

Better late than never — a proper review on a last year's sunscreen top pick.

NIVEA Sun Protect Plus UV Milky Essence SPF50+ packaging

A while ago, I combed through the site looking for the full-page review on NIVEA Sun Protect Plus UV Milky Essence I thought I posted last year. It turned out I never wrote one in the first place. By now, I’m sure you’ve either already tried it or at least have seen it featured as one of my 2016 Top SPF50+ PA++++ Sunscreen Picks.

I actually have nothing particularly profound to say (do I ever?!) about this sunscreen — perhaps that’s why I didn’t do a dedicated write-up on it — but I rate it very highly. Think of this lovely, and aptly named, “milky essence” formula as a cross-between mattifying, tenacious sunscreen milk and easy-on/easy-off moisturising essence or gel. It’s fresh, light, non-greasy, non-sticky, and almost undetectable on the skin, but with an unexpected hit of hydration that normal to combination skin would welcome. If your skin is on the drier side, but you find sunscreens made specifically for dry skin too claggy in the summer, then you might also like this.

You can find the NIVEA Sun Protect Plus UV Milky Essence SPF50+ PA++++ at Amazon.com — it’s US$8.51+ HERE. It’s a great choice if you want something affordable, non-chalky, and fresh-feeling that feels more substantial than milky fluids but not as full-on as essences, gels, or creams.
