I’m gonna start with a potentially controversial statement: using toilet seat covers from public restroom on your face as blotting paper is beyond nasty! I find it ironic that a lot of people who adamantly avoid directly contacting public toilet seats will not think twice to use toilet seat covers on their face. You do know that toilet sprays droplets of whatever that’s in it everywhere when it’s flushed, right?
Despite what some like to believe, not all blotting papers or blotting films (those plastic-y sheets) perform the same. For example, some are more absorbent than others. A lot of people have different preferences as well. I personally do not like blotting films and I do not like ones that leave powder behind.
I’ve tried countless brands and types of blotting sheets — Convenic Selecty Safari Super Oil-Blotting Paper is my favourite. A pack has 100 sheets and it comes in a cute leopard print packaging, and all for 367 yen! Each sheet is quite large and it’s super absorbent. I don’t even need the whole sheet (generally about half) in very hot and humid summer. For film type, I typically use up the entire sheet and I find that I often need more than one sheet for other paper varieties. This doesn’t leave any residue behind and it truly doesn’t disturb makeup either (something I find a lot especially blotting films tend to do). My skin looks fresh (like the way it did before) after using it, never too matte or dry.
It’s a must-have in my bag!
